Overview

The Botswana Defence Force is seeking a qualified and experienced Chief Fire Officer to coordinate Fire, Crash, and Rescue Services activities. The role includes developing procedures, managing fire personnel, and ensuring that all operations align with the strategic safety goals of the BDF.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Scale: D3 (P263,652 โ€“ P283,748 per annum)
  • Leave: 30 working days per annum
  • Benefits Include:
    • Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%)
    • Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15%; employee pays 5%)
    • Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P309.00 per month
    • Firefighters overtime allowance of 30% of basic salary

Key Responsibilities

-Coordinate Fire, Crash, and Rescue Services activities.

-Develop and implement firefighting policies, procedures, and standards.

-Handle fire safety issues and preventive measures.

-Manage the implementation of incident command and response procedures.

-Lead investigations and disciplinary actions relating to fire incidents.

-Facilitate internal and external stakeholder engagement.

-Ensure the achievement of Crash, Fire, and Rescue Service goals.

-Train and supervise firefighting personnel and build team capacity.

Minimum Requirements

-Diploma in Fire Engineering and Safety Management or BSc in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, or Fire Safety Management (or related field) from a recognised institution.

-Minimum of ten (10) yearsโ€™ relevant work experience, including at least two (2) years served at D4 salary scale or equivalent level in the private sector.
