Overview
The Limpopo Department of Health is recruiting 26 General Workers / Labourers across hospitals and district offices in all regions of the province. Successful candidates will perform cleaning, portering, laundry, and general maintenance tasks that contribute to a safe and clean hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
A) General Duties
-Load and offload materials and supplies.
-Assist Artisans and Tradesmen Aides.
-Keep tools safe, clean, and well-organized.
-Maintain hospital grounds and buildings.
B) Porter Duties
-Transport patients using stretchers or wheelchairs to and from wards or other departments.
-Carry patients and move corpses to the mortuary.
-Clean and maintain stretchers and wheelchairs.
C) Laundry Aid Duties
-Record all incoming and outgoing linen daily.
-Receive, clean, and dispatch soiled and clean linen as per infection control standards.
-Operate and maintain laundry machinery.
-Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations.
D) Cleaner Duties
-Perform cleaning services in offices, wards, passages, and ablution facilities.
-Empty dustbins and pick up waste.
-Keep cleaning materials safe and in good condition.
Requirements & Competencies
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
Additional Advantages:
- Previous experience in a hospital or patient care environment.
Skills & Attributes:
-Physically fit to lift heavy equipment and operate cleaning/laundry machinery.
-Willing to work with human fluids and under hospital conditions.
-Able to work shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, Waste Management, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Salary & Employment Details
–Annual Salary: R138 486.00 per annum (Level 2)
–Centres: 26 posts available at various hospitals and offices across Limpopo.
