Job Purpose

To render an effective and efficient day-to-day fire operations service within the Tshwane regions.

---

Appointment Requirements

• Grade 12
• Basic Ambulance Course with current HPCSA registration
• Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II
• Hazmat First Responder: Awareness Level
• Hazmat First Responder: Operational Level
• Valid Code C driver’s licence (competency to drive Code C vehicle confirmed annually)
• Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience in a fire and rescue environment
• Physically fit and healthy
• Must pass:
  • Physical capability test
  • Medical evaluation
  • Criminal record check (fingerprints taken by Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost)
• Willingness to be placed at any fire station in Tshwane
• Willingness to work standby, weekends, public holidays and after hours

• Respond to fire and rescue incidents
• Perform firefighting and rescue operations
• Render basic emergency medical care
• Conduct fire prevention activities
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus
• Maintain fire station facilities
