Overview

The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and safety within court buildings, magistrate offices and regional offices. The role involves routine cleaning of offices, courtrooms, cells, kitchens and sanitation facilities to ensure a safe and professional working environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 / Standard 8 / ABET Level 4 or equivalent
• No experience required
• Basic literacy and communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment
• Ability to work physically for long hours
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

General Cleaning Duties

• Sweep, mop, scrub and polish floors
• Dust and polish furniture
• Vacuum carpets
• Clean windows, doors and walls
• Strip and polish floors

Sanitation Cleaning

• Clean toilets, basins and wall tiles
• Deep clean sanitation facilities
• Refill soap dispensers and toilet paper
• Wash toilet floors

Kitchen Cleaning

• Wash kitchen floors
• Clean kitchen utensils
• Assist with tea and coffee during meetings

Safety & Maintenance Support

• Empty and clean dustbins
• Report defects noticed during cleaning
• Alert staff of slippery floors
• Inform supervisors of broken lights or locks
• Conduct stock count of cleaning materials
