Overview

The Botswana Defence Force is recruiting a Deputy Chief Fire Officer to assist in the coordination and management of Fire, Crash, and Rescue Services. The successful candidate will oversee operational activities, implement firefighting procedures, and promote compliance with safety regulations in line with BDF strategic objectives.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Scale: D4 (P265,948 โ€“ P282,120 per annum)
  • Leave: 30 working days per annum
  • Benefits Include:
    • Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%)
    • Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15%; employee pays 5%)
    • Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P309.00 per month
    • Firefighters overtime allowance of 30% of basic salary

Key Responsibilities

-Supervise the implementation of Fire, Crash, and Rescue Services policies and procedures.

-Provide advice on firefighting standards and operations.

-Monitor compliance with firefighting procedures and safety protocols.

-Respond to firefighting-related incidents and conduct investigations.

-Coordinate training programs and performance evaluations for fire service personnel.

-Liaise with stakeholders to enhance achievement of safety and rescue goals.

-Ensure that Crash, Fire, and Rescue Services are aligned with institutional expectations.

Minimum Requirements

-Diploma in Fire Engineering and Safety Management or BSc in Fire Engineering, BSc in Fire Safety, or BSc in Fire Safety Management (or related field) from an accredited institution.

-Minimum of eight (8) yearsโ€™ relevant work experience, including at least two (2) years served at D4 salary scale or equivalent in the private sector.
