Job Purpose
To provide excellent customer service at the till point, ensuring accurate transactions, adherence to company procedures, and a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 monthsโ cashier/till operation experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical ability
- Excellent command of English
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing & able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
-Process all customer transactions efficiently and accurately
-Maintain a professional relationship with customers
-Handle complaints and compliments appropriately
-Follow Dis-Chemโs customer service standards
-Adhere to hourly customer turnover targets
-Be aware of promotions and special offers
-Keep customers and colleagues safe from risk
-Manage cash flow responsibly and securely
-Process refunds, exchanges, and returns when authorised
-Handle payments (cash, cards, vouchers, partner loyalty programs, etc.)
-Ensure correct scanning and payment of all outgoing items
-Maintain confidentiality and strict control of till access
-Report suspicious behaviour immediately
-Assist customers with merchandise inquiries
-Uphold Dis-Chemโs safety and security protocols
