Stipend During Training: R4,500 per month (with applicable benefits)
Salary After Training (Constable): R238,629 per annum


Overview:

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is recruiting disciplined, physically and mentally fit South African citizens to join as entry-level Police Trainees. This is an opportunity to serve the country by upholding the law, protecting communities, and ensuring public order and safety.

Successful candidates will undergo extensive training and may be deployed as functional police officers upon completion. Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driverโ€™s license and higher education qualifications in relevant fields.


Responsibilities:

Police Trainees, upon successful completion of training, will be responsible for:

  • Preventing, combating, and investigating crime.
  • Maintaining public order.
  • Protecting and securing the inhabitants of the Republic and their property.
  • Upholding and enforcing the law.

Training Programme:

  • Duration: 21 months.
  • Location: Any SAPS Training Academy in South Africa (as determined by the National Commissioner).
  • Benefits: Free accommodation, meals, training gear, and medical aid.
  • Outcome: Permanent appointment as Constable upon successful completion.

Requirements and Skills:

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen (documentary proof required).
  • Be aged between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Possess a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent (documentary proof required).
  • Be medically and psychologically fit as per SAPS standards.
  • Be proficient in English and one other official language.
  • Be willing to take the oath of office and undergo structured training.
  • Have no visible tattoos when in uniform.
  • Have no criminal record, or pending cases.
  • Not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Not have been dismissed for serious misconduct.
  • Consent to background checks, security vetting, and DNA/fingerprint profiling.
