Overview:
The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, through its Public Safety Department, is offering a comprehensive training programme to qualifying candidates who aspire to become Metropolitan Police Officers. Successful candidates will undergo an 18-month training period and, upon completion, be considered for permanent appointment within the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or NQF Level 4).
- Be a resident within the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (original proof of residence required).
- Have no criminal record or conviction.
- Allow biometric and background checks.
- Hold a valid Code B Driverโs License (no learnerโs licenses).
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Be physically and mentally fit (medical certificate required).
- Successfully complete a pre-training fitness assessment.
- Be proficient in English.
- Be willing to wear a uniform and carry a firearm.
- Have no civil judgments related to fraud or corruption.
- Be willing to undergo further vetting processes.

- Reliable, honest, and of high integrity.
- Positive attitude, patient, and able to work under pressure.
- Willing to work shifts and in various weather conditions.
Terms of Training:
- 18-month structured training programme.
- Includes theory, practical assessments, and adherence to Academy and RTMC policies.
- A stipend will be paid during the training period.
- Trainees will be considered for appointment as Metropolitan Police Officers upon successful completion.
