Overview
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) invites unemployed graduates to apply for the EPWP Internship Programme aimed at providing meaningful work experience in public administration. This 24-month internship is part of the Municipal Graduate Programme and is designed to empower young professionals to support various administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist with consolidation and processing of provincial reports and documents
-Support the development of advocacy and environmental education reports
-Organize and distribute promotional materials related to environmental education
-Maintain efficient filing systems and ensure accurate documentation
-Provide logistical and secretarial support for meetings, forums, and committees
-Facilitate travel arrangements, process leave, and manage S&T and kilometre claims
-Assist with the procurement of goods and services in line with departmental procedures
-Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal use and external stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in:
- Public Administration
- Public Management
- Or a closely related qualification
- No prior work experience is required
Skills and Competencies
-Good knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, and relevant policy frameworks
-Strong understanding of administrative and clerical processes in the public sector
-Good interpersonal, coordination, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
-Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to:
- Work under pressure and independently
- Work with diverse individuals and manage difficult situations
- Be accountable, trustworthy, and willing to work flexible hours
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer literacy
