Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a Frontshop Assistant for its Mediclinic branch in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding merchandising standards, supporting customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the point of sale in line with company policies. This role is ideal for motivated individuals looking to build a career in the retail and healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full product ranges are available on shelves, well-presented, and within expiry dates.
• Restock merchandise and manage out-of-stock customer queries promptly.
• Maintain correct pricing, labeling, and stock rotation in line with Dis-Chem standards.
• Assist with back shopping, loading/off-loading stock, and storeroom organization.
• Handle all purchases, payments, loyalty cards, and returns in line with policies.
• Ensure accurate cash flow and adherence to cash-handling procedures.
• Monitor stock levels, damaged/expired products, and report discrepancies.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service at all times.
• Assist with training of new staff and participate in stock counts.
• Adhere to health, safety, housekeeping, and uniform standards.

Entry Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
• 0 – 6 months retail work experience.

Advantageous:

• 1 year retail experience.
• Certificate in Retail Business Management.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

• Basic retail operations and administration knowledge.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and basic arithmetic ability.
• High attention to detail with accountability for work quality.

Advantageous:

• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• SAP and numerical skills.

Special Conditions

• Must be willing to work retail hours.
• South African citizenship required.
• No criminal record or adverse credit history.
• Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license preferred.
