Overview

Tiger Brands is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious General Worker Packer to join the production team in Maitland. The role supports daily manufacturing operations by performing manual tasks, maintaining product quality standards, ensuring safe packing, and adhering to GMP, Food Safety and MECP principles. This position is essential to meeting production targets and ensuring efficient workflow within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

– Prepare workstations by ensuring packaging materials, tools and equipment (tape guns, pallets, wrappers) are ready for production.
– Execute daily production and manual packing activities efficiently and safely.
– Pack correct quantities into boxes and onto pallets in the required format.
– Monitor product quality, including date codes, seals and packaging integrity.
– Support safe start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers when required.
– Escalate production issues such as material defects, safety hazards and line stoppages.
– Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with GMP and Food Safety protocols.
– Collect waste and support waste management practices within the production area.
– Assist with capturing production losses when required.
– Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas according to MECP and 5S principles.
– Monitor and stop packing machinery when necessary if defects or dangers arise.
– Report absenteeism, time and attendance challenges to supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

– Matric / Grade 12 is advantageous but not always required for general roles.
– Experience in FMCG, packaging, manufacturing or warehouse environments is beneficial.
– Ability to perform manual labour and follow safety and quality procedures.
– Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product standards.
– Understanding of GMP, Food Safety and housekeeping practices.
– Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
