Overview
Vaal Central Water is seeking hardworking and dedicated General Assistants to join its Operations Division. Successful candidates will provide support in maintaining water infrastructure, including vehicles, pipelines, pump stations, and reservoirs, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
-Wash and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment.
-Assist with repairs and maintenance on bulk or other pipelines, including excavation, replacement, bedding, and filling.
-Conduct weekly inspections and reporting on pipelines, manholes, and reservoirs.
-Maintain housekeeping standards at pump stations within the region.
-Support the repair and maintenance of pumps, valves, and plant equipment.
-Perform various operational tasks such as welding, trench digging, and basic mechanical work.
-Carry out cleaning, painting, grass cutting, tree felling, sewer line unblocking, and sewer plant maintenance.
-Support civil works, terrain upkeep, and gardening activities.
-Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and relevant regulations.
-Wear safety gear at all times and observe occupational health and safety requirements.
-Perform any additional assignments as directed by supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: Grade 10 (Essential).
- Added Advantage:
- Knowledge of water treatment plants and pump stations.
- Valid Driverโs License.
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physical tasks.
- Commitment to safety procedures and team collaboration.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information

- The role may require work at multiple sites and locations across the Free State region.
