Overview
The City of Tshwaneโs Water and Sanitation Section in Region 6 invites suitable candidates to apply for four (4) General Worker positions based at the Waltloo Petroleum Depot. The role involves manual labour duties supporting wastewater collection operations and sewer maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
-Clear sewer blockages
-Excavate and backfill trenches using manual tools (shovels, pickaxes, rakes, rammers)
-Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment from work vehicles
-Assist with operating water pumping equipment
-Support the supervisor with pipe repairs and alignments
-Clean work areas and tools post-completion of tasks
-Wash and maintain the plumberโs truck or vehicle
-Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
-Maintain cleanliness in and around the depot
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
-Ability to perform physical duties
-Basic literacy
-Relevant experience in wastewater network maintenance (advantageous)
-Physically fit and healthy, with no back problems
-Willing to work shifts, standby, and overtime when required
-Must pass a criminal record check and consent to fingerprinting by Tshwane Metro Police (at own cost)
