Introduction

Sasol is inviting applications for the Learner Artisan: Millwright programme as part of its ongoing commitment to skills development and artisan training. This opportunity is ideal for young South Africans seeking to build a long-term technical career within the mining and energy sector.

Successful candidates will receive structured workplace training to qualify as certified Millwrights, in line with QCTO and National Artisan Moderation Board (NAMB) requirements.

About the Learner Artisan Programme

The Learner Artisan (Millwright) programme provides hands-on technical training combined with theoretical learning. Learners will be trained on plant, mining, and equipment systems while working under experienced artisans and supervisors.

The programme focuses on:

-Workplace safety and compliance

-Mechanical and electrical maintenance skills

-Equipment inspection and fault finding

-Professional development and teamwork


Key Responsibilities & Training Areas

Learners will be trained to:

-Understand and apply plant maintenance systems

-Use planning and work management systems

-Apply safety management systems and emergency procedures

-Conduct hazard identification and task risk assessments

-Participate in daily toolbox talks and morning meetings

-Support maintenance strategies and plant sustainability

-Maintain accurate maintenance history records

-Assist in root cause analyses and risk assessments

-Maintain housekeeping and waste management standards

-Provide feedback to supervisors on work progress

-Participate in performance reviews and personal development planning

-Work effectively within maintenance teams


Minimum Requirements

  • Completed Matric / N3 or equivalent qualification
  • Must have passed Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
  • 0โ€“1 year relevant experience (no experience required)
  • Willingness to work in Sasolburg and Secunda
  • Strong interest in becoming a qualified Millwright
