Overview:
Premium Resources Botswana is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Technician to join their operations in Selibe Phikwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance, installation, and operation of underground and surface mechanical equipment in accordance with the Botswana Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act.
Key Responsibilities:
-Conduct inspections and planned maintenance on Winders, Compressors, Ventilation Fans, Cable Belts, Chair Lifts, etc.
-Troubleshoot and perform repairs and replacements on defective mechanical components.
-Service and install equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, couplings, and compressors.
-Monitor equipment condition using diagnostic tools and techniques (e.g. vibration analysis, oil testing).
-Interpret mechanical schematics and drawings for repair and installation tasks.
-Ensure work is completed efficiently and documented with detailed work orders.
-Oversee contractors and ensure compliance with company safety and operational procedures.
-Maintain housekeeping standards and follow safety protocols, including lock-out procedures.
-Ensure availability of spare parts and liaise with supervisors for scheduling and resource allocation.
-Adhere to maintenance budgets and report on work progress and performance.
Requirements:
-Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
-Minimum of 5 yearsโ experience working on mining mechanical systems (Winders, Compressors, Fans, Belts)
-At least 2 years of supervisory experience
-Knowledge of diagnostic methods and tools
-Basic understanding of electrical systems, rigging, and welding
-Knowledge of winding inspection techniques
