Overview:
The Eastern Cape Department of Education is recruiting for 30 Security Guard positions at public schools. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and security of learners, staff, property, and visitors across school premises. The department seeks responsible individuals with knowledge of basic security protocols and a strong commitment to creating a secure educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

-Patrol school grounds, buildings, and access points to ensure safety and prevent unauthorized access

-Monitor and control access to school premises for learners, staff, and visitors

-Check visitors’ identification and issue visitor admission cards

-Protect school property from theft, vandalism, and damage

-Escort visitors and learners when required and assist with safety during school events

-Conduct inspections of equipment and supplies to prevent theft and unauthorized removal

-Assist in enforcing school safety protocols and reporting suspicious activities

-Ensure learners and staff are safe and secure at all times

-Keep accurate logs and report incidents to the School Management Team

Requirements and Skills:

-Grade E Basic Security Training and basic education

-Knowledge of security procedures and access control protocols

-Good customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)

-Understanding of Public Service values and learner safety

-Patience and willingness to support and protect learners, including those with special needs

-Physically fit and alert

-Preference will be given to candidates from the local area and those with relevant security experience
