Overview:
The Eastern Cape Department of Education seeks qualified individuals to fill 15 Housekeeping Supervisor positions at selected schools. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring school cleanliness, sanitation, and the proper implementation of hygiene standards to maintain a healthy and supportive environment for learners and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

-Supervise daily cleaning operations across all school facilities including classrooms, restrooms, dormitories, and offices

-Implement cleaning schedules and monitor compliance with hygiene standards

-Coordinate laundry services for learners, especially in hostels

-Ensure cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and stored

-Collaborate with staff to accommodate special cleaning requirements and schedules

-Maintain accurate records of cleaning duties, staff schedules, and supply inventories

-Conduct health and safety checks to ensure safe, hygienic conditions

-Train and oversee cleaning staff and allocate cleaning duties as needed

-Support special needs learners by creating a clean and accommodating environment

Requirements and Skills:

-Grade 9 or school leaving certificate

-Prior experience in cleaning, maintenance, or supervisory roles will be an advantage

-Strong organizational and communication skills

-Ability to implement and oversee hygiene protocols

-Awareness of Public Service values, especially regarding the care of learners with special needs

-Proof of having participated in the PEYI programme will be an advantage

-Commitment to teamwork, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality

-Preference will be given to candidates from special schools with relevant qualifications
