Overview

The Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS), a key humanitarian organization and part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join its team in Maseru. Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will play a central role in the financial oversight and accountability of LRCS programs. The role involves managing donor compliance, generating timely financial reports, overseeing audits, and supporting the finance team through supervision and capacity-building.

Key Responsibilities

-Prepare timely and accurate financial reports and statements

-Ensure compliance with donor regulations and internal financial policies

-Oversee payroll processing, account reconciliations, and support financial audits

-Monitor and manage budget implementation and expenditure tracking

-Supervise junior finance personnel and ensure proper workflow in the finance department

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, General Accounting Stage, or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit or donor-funded sector
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel Accounting
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects and knowledge of USAID, EU, or UN financial regulations
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
