Position: LeapStart Lesotho / AHYEP Project Manager
Location: Mokhotlong District, Lesotho (with travel to Butha Buthe, Maseru, and project sites)

Overview
SolidarMed, a leading non-profit organisation improving healthcare for over 2.5 million people across Southern Africa, is seeking a dynamic and qualified Project Manager for the “LeapStart Lesotho / AHYEP” projects. This is a unique opportunity to lead important initiatives focused on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Adolescent Health in Lesotho.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation and Management
- Lead and manage the full setup, functioning, and implementation of LeapStart / AHYEP projects in Butha Buthe and Mokhotlong districts.
- Prepare annual plans, budgets, reports, and monitor project outcomes against logframe indicators.
- Ensure collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH), District Health Management Teams (DHMT), and other stakeholders.
- Manage financial planning and control in line with SolidarMed procedures.
- Ensure sound administrative, logistic, and financial support systems are in place.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building
- Supervise and mentor project staff, identifying training needs and facilitating learning sessions.
- Conduct regular staff performance reviews in line with SolidarMed policies.
Implementation Research and Knowledge Sharing
- Initiate and manage implementation research activities in collaboration with SolidarMed Technical Directors and partners.
- Promote research findings within SolidarMed and among partners and stakeholders.
Partnership Building and Policy Dialogue
- Enhance SolidarMed’s visibility and reputation through active networking and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to policy development and dialogue, particularly in the Early Childhood Development and Adolescent Health sectors.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Oversee all project monitoring, indicator tracking, and data collection activities.
- Ensure high-quality, timely reporting to SolidarMed, donors, and local authorities using standardised templates.
- Handle additional reporting tasks such as proposal writing and capitalisation reports when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years’ experience or Honours Degree with 2 years’ experience in Early Childhood Development, Adolescent Health, Education, or Public Health.
- A Project Management qualification with at least 3 years of project management experience.
- Strong experience in ECD curriculum development and training is highly advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
- Sound computer literacy and excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver under pressure.
- Knowledge of research principles and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is an advantage.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); fluency in Sesotho is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork orientation, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex environment.
