Overview
Pick n Pay is hiring more than 20 dependable Production Assistants to support food production and preparation processes across our in-store bakeries, delis, and kitchens. This role is essential in maintaining product quality, adhering to safety standards, and meeting customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist with the preparation, portioning, and packaging of food items
-Operate machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures
-Ensure production areas are clean, hygienic, and well-organized
-Follow recipes, portion standards, and production schedules
-Monitor product quality and report deviations to supervisors
-Comply with cold chain and food safety protocols
-Manage stock rotation and report low stock levels
-Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain health & safety standards
-Support team members to meet daily production targets
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)
- Food handling experience or relevant training preferred
- Willing and able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment
