Overview
Skip Hire, one of Botswana’s leading refuse and waste management companies, is seeking two highly skilled and competent Extra Heavy Duty Drivers to join its operations team. The successful candidates will be responsible for operating water and waste management vehicles to ensure safe and efficient collection and transportation of materials.
Key Responsibilities
-Operate water and waste management vehicles for collection and transport of water, waste and recyclable materials
-Safely operate loading, compressing and dumping mechanisms
-Ensure assigned truck is properly fuelled, equipped, lubricated and serviced
-Wash interior and exterior of assigned truck and report repairs immediately
-Maintain safe and efficient operation of waste collection and transport equipment
-Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
-Complete daily work sheets and work orders accurately
-Follow traffic laws and safety procedures at all times
-Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
-Maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues and the public
Minimum Requirements and Skills
-Senior Secondary School completion (BGCSE / IGCSE)
-Minimum of 5 years’ extra heavy-duty driving experience with a reputable company
-Class EC driver’s licence
-PRDP – Goods & Hazardous
-Strong driving and basic mechanical skills
-Knowledge of waste management (advantage)
-Strong attention to detail
-Good interpersonal skills
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Good organizational and communication skills
