Overview
We are looking for experienced and highly skilled Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Drivers to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for distributing goods to various clients, ensuring efficient and safe transportation. This role requires adherence to company safety procedures and compliance with the National Road Traffic Act.
Responsibilities
-Prepare and inspect the vehicle before each trip, ensuring that it is ready for safe operation.
-Safely load, transport, and offload goods, either by operating equipment or overseeing the offloading process.
-Manage all relevant documentation, including trip logs and delivery forms, and perform any additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
-Ensure that the vehicle is not overloaded, and that the load is properly secured before departure.
-Open and close tarpaulins when necessary, adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the vehicle, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols at all times.
- Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required, ensuring flexibility in work schedule.
- Maintain a safe driving record, adhering to defensive driving techniques and all traffic regulations.
- Handle emergencies and report any vehicle defects or incidents according to company procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 literacy level (able to read and perform basic calculations).
- Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP – DGP).
- At least 3 years of experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles.
- Must be 25 years or older.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong knowledge of defensive driving techniques and vehicle component functions.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections, operate fire extinguishers, and ensure vehicle cost-effectiveness.
- Clean criminal record and safe driving history.
