Overview

PG Building Glass, Southern Africa’s leading distributor of float, mirror, and PG SmartGlass products, offers a range of glass solutions that include decorative finishes, security features, and UV protection. We are seeking a dedicated General Worker to assist in our glass processing operations, ensuring production and quality standards are met across the plant.



Key Responsibilities

-Accurately measure incoming glass using a tape measure.

-Inspect glass for any defects such as irregular breaks, scratches, or uneven edges.

-Follow process instructions as per job cards and drawings.

-Receive and act on instructions from machine operators.

-Complete documentation, both hard copies and electronic forms.

-Adhere to safety protocols and report any unsafe practices or conditions.

-Continuously check the quality of the glass, reporting defects to the operator.

-Ensure proper labelling of glass and that job cards are correctly followed.

-Operate according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

-Scan and confirm each glass before passing it to the next station, and handle rejected glass appropriately.

-Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

-Keep a record of production, including dimensions and material type.

-Safely handle and label chemicals used in the process.

-Assist in loading, strapping, offloading, and moving glass using a pallet jack.

-Load and unload materials onto pallets and vehicles.

-Clean work areas, machines, and equipment.

-Complete job cards and assist with any additional duties as needed.


Requirements

  • Education:
    • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1-year experience in glass processing.
    • Familiarity with SAP systems is advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment.
    • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
    • High energy and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills.
    • Must have own transport and be mobile.
