Sasol is recruiting 13 Miners to join Mining Operations (MRS) in Secunda. This role focuses on achieving production targets through effective crew leadership, planning, organising and controlling daily mining activities while ensuring strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

Purpose of the Job

To achieve defined performance targets within the section by:

• Building operator capability
• Managing and controlling daily mining activities
• Ensuring safety, health and environmental compliance
• Delivering production in line with operational plans

---

Key Responsibilities

• Manage crew to meet production targets
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance in the section
• Conduct start and end of shift inspections
• Perform statutory inspections (gas and ventilation tests)
• Complete statutory reports and risk assessments
• Conduct rescue drills and oversee safe transport of team
• Ensure correct use of PPE and hand tools
• Oversee housekeeping of section
• Manage attendance and performance meetings
• Maintain accurate operator licensing and records
• Submit accurate and complete section reports on time
• Ensure adequate materials and resource availability
• Manage pillar extraction sections where applicable
• Represent Shift Boss in Operational Excellence meetings
• Perform SAP inputs when acting as Relieving Shift Boss
• Coach and develop operators in the section
• Identify and address training and development needs
• Rectify audit findings and ensure compliance
• Ensure effective shift handovers
• Support organisational change initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Education

• National Senior Certificate with Mathematics
• Occupational Trade Certificate (Blasting Certificate – Fiery Mines)

Experience

• Minimum 4 years relevant mining experience
