South Deep Gold Mine is offering aspiring employees and prospective applicants from Host Communities the opportunity to enter into a formal Engineering Learnership Programme (Underground 18-2). This programme provides structured workplace training and external technical training aimed at qualifying learners as artisans.

Host Community Requirement
To qualify as a Host Community applicant, you must be a resident of:
Bekkersdal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein, or Westonaria Borwa.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Full N3 qualification with four (4) trade-specific subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Trade Theory (relevant to discipline)
- Industrial Electronics (where applicable)
- Medically fit for the mining environment (risk-based medical examination)
- Pass Heat Tolerance Screening and other required assessments
- All relevant certificates must be attached to the CV
Programme Overview
The Engineering Learnership includes:
- Practical workplace training
- External technical training aligned with MQA requirements
- Short courses as required by the mine
- Development towards artisan qualification
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undergo prescribed technical and practical training
- Maintain consistent performance standards
- Participate in developmental discussions and seek feedback
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
- Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Promote teamwork and collaboration
- Uphold South Deep values: safety, integrity, respect, responsibility, innovation, and collaborative delivery
