Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (no experience required), OR
    Grade 10 with 2 yearsโ€™ experience in Patient Administration
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to work:
    • Shifts, night duty & public holidays
    • Rotate within the department
  • Knowledge of:
    • Record Management Policy
    • Patient Administration Guidelines
    • PFMA
    • UPFS

Duties & Responsibilities

-Perform administrative duties according to Patient Administration and Record Management prescripts

-Register, admit and file patient records accurately

-Capture patient information electronically and manually (demographics, documents, classification)

-Capture downtime statistics, PAIA data and Section 32 Management entries

-Compile monthly spreadsheets of private patient files and submit to supervisor/finance for billing

-Perform sub-cashier duties (cash collection for patient fees)

-Handle telephone enquiries relating to patient administration and records

-Adhere to all internal/external changes regarding procedures and disposal of records

-Accept responsibilities delegated by the supervisor and provide feedback

-Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all policies

  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA
