Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reliable and experienced Cashier to join their store in Ottery, Cape Town. The successful candidate will support the storeโs front-line operations, ensuring excellent customer service and accurate processing of all transactions in line with Dis-Chemโs operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
-Deliver professional customer service in line with Dis-Chemโs policies
-Build and maintain customer relationships at the point of sale
-Process all forms of payments including cash, bank cards, coupons, and loyalty points
-Handle all transactions accurately and responsibly to avoid errors and fraud
-Maintain awareness of promotions, specials, and in-store activities
-Secure all money in till and drop safe according to SOPs
-Manage daily cash flow and report irregularities
-Assist customers with merchandise queries, exchanges, and returns
-Adhere to store safety, hygiene, and security policies
Minimum Requirements:
-Grade 12 / Matric
-At least 6 months of experience in cashier/till operations
-Computer literacy (MS Office)
-Sound numerical ability
-Strong English communication skills
-Customer-focused and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of additional languages
- Previous experience in a retail environment

- Knowledge of refunds, payment methods, and POS systems

Special Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays
- Reliable transport or reside near the Ottery store
- South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record
