Key Responsibilities

-Safely operate Code 10 (C1) vehicles for deliveries, collections and transfers (some roles include shuttle/crew, documents, pharmaceutical, or parts distribution).

-Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, record defects, report maintenance needs, and keep vehicles clean and roadworthy.

-Plan routes and meet on-time delivery windows; manage PODs, delivery notes, invoices and basic admin.

-Load/unload goods, secure cargo, and follow company SOPs and OHSA/road regulations.

-Provide courteous, professional service to customers, sites and internal teams; communicate delays or issues promptly.

-Adhere to site access, security, and dangerous goods procedures where required.

Requirements & Skills

–Valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s licence with PrDP (frequently required; some roles add DGP).

–Clean driving record and sound knowledge of road safety and national traffic regulations.

–Experience: typically 2–5+ years as a Code 10 driver (some employers specify 3–5 years, splitter gearbox exposure, 8-ton truck experience, or sector-specific delivery experience).

–Education: Grade 10–12 (Matric preferred).

-Ability to perform manual handling (loading, offloading) and basic vehicle checks.

-Professional communication, customer service mindset, reliability, time management and route planning.

-Advantageous: knowledge of metro/region routes; sector experience (courier, retail/FMCG, auto parts, pharma, fuel/lubes, aviation/ground handling).
