Salary Information

Cleaner Positions (Level 02): R138 486 per annum
Cleaner Supervisor (Level 04): R193 359 – R227 766 per annum

These are permanent or long-term public sector posts depending on department and location.

Minimum Requirements

Cleaner Posts:

• Grade 9 / ABET Level 4 or Grade 10/12 depending on centre
• No experience required for most posts
• Basic literacy and communication skills
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment
• Willingness to work long hours and under pressure

Cleaner Supervisor Posts:

• ABET Level 4 or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years cleaning services experience
• Knowledge of OHSA
• Supervisory and leadership skills
• Stock control and reporting experience

Western Cape Post Additional Requirement:

• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence

Key Duties

• Cleaning offices, court buildings, clinics and military facilities
• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing floors
• Cleaning toilets, basins and kitchens
• Dusting and polishing furniture
• Waste removal and refuse handling
• Operating cleaning machinery
• Reporting maintenance defects
• For supervisors: managing staff, inventory control, compiling reports and ensuring compliance with hygiene standards
