Overview
A permanent opportunity is available for a General Worker Artisan Assistant within a busy bakery production plant in Durban. This role is ideal for candidates with production plant experience who are interested in maintenance support, technical assistance, and plant operations.
The successful candidate will assist with maintaining equipment effectiveness, supporting artisans with technical tasks, and ensuring smooth production operations within a high-performance factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
– Assist with technical support and basic troubleshooting of plant equipment.
– Support artisans and maintenance teams with daily operational tasks.
– Assist with plant and system upgrades when required.
– Perform basic maintenance support duties on machinery and equipment.
– Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement activities.
– Ensure equipment and plant systems operate effectively and efficiently.
– Follow health and safety procedures within the factory environment.
– Assist with maintenance activities during breakdowns and repairs.
– Work with heavy industrial and mechanical equipment safely.
Requirements & Skills
-Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
-Minimum 1 year experience in a production plant or factory environment.
-Basic engineering and maintenance knowledge.
-Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
-Good communication and teamwork skills.
-Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
-Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
-Physically fit and able to work around heavy equipment.
-Willingness to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and rotating shifts.
Working Conditions
-Pressurised factory environment.
-Hot and noisy production plant.
-6-day work schedule.
-Regular overtime and after-hours work may be required.
-Exposure to heavy industrial and mechanical equipment.
