Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Security Guard to join its Port Elizabeth team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by protecting company assets, staff, customers, and property while ensuring compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act and company security procedures.

Key Responsibilities

– Conduct regular patrols around the premises to identify and prevent suspicious activities.
– Control access to the premises for staff, visitors, and suppliers.
– Monitor entrances, exits, alarm systems, and CCTV equipment.
– Perform vehicle searches, personnel frisking, and security checks.
– Complete occurrence books, registers, and security reports accurately.
– Assist with opening and closing procedures of the premises.
– Investigate and report incidents, damages, theft, or unlawful activities.
– Provide professional customer service to staff, customers, and visitors.
– Respond quickly and effectively during emergencies or crisis situations.
– Ensure all company assets and property remain protected at all times.
– Maintain order during evacuations and emergency procedures.
– Report suspicious behaviour and safety risks to management immediately.

Requirements & Skills

-Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate.
-Grade C PSIRA accreditation.
-PSIRA registration required.
-Minimum 3 years’ exposure in the retail industry such as malls or warehouses.
-Previous security experience in a similar role will be advantageous.
-Knowledge of security procedures, health and safety, and emergency response.
-Good English communication skills (written and verbal).
-Additional language skills will be advantageous.
-Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends if required.
-Driver’s licence and reliable transport advantageous.
-Clear criminal and credit record.
