The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) is recruiting 6 Security Officers across Gauteng (Pretoria) and Eastern Cape (Middleburg โ GADI). These roles fall under the Directorate: Vetting, Screening and Special Investigations and require reliable, vigilant individuals committed to maintaining safety, access control, and compliance within government facilities.
1) Security Officer โ REF NO: 3/3/1/03/2025 (X2 Posts)
Directorate: Vetting, Screening & Special Investigations
Location: Gauteng (Pretoria)
Salary: R163 980 per annum (Level 03)
2) Security Officer โ REF NO: 3/3/1/04/2025 (X4 Posts)
Directorate: Vetting, Screening & Special Investigations โ GADI
Location: Eastern Cape (Middleburg)
Salary: R163 980 per annum (Level 03)
Minimum Requirements (Applicable to All Posts)
- Basic Education and Training (NQF Level 3) or higher
- PSIRA Grade C registered (mandatory)
- Knowledge of:
- Access control procedures
- Movement control for equipment, stores, documents
- MISS, MPSS, Criminal Procedure Act, Protection of Information Act
- Emergency procedures
- Willingness to:
- Work 12-hour shifts
- Work afterhours, weekends & public holidays
- Travel when required
Key Responsibilities
Access Control
- Screen and verify visitors and appointments
- Issue access cards/register visitors
- Escort visitors to employees/venues when required
- Operate X-ray machines where applicable
- Lock/unlock entrances and monitor suspicious behaviour
Building & Premises Safety
- Conduct regular patrols and check for:
- Water leaks
- Unlocked/locked doors
- Fire hazards
- Exposed electrical risks
- Suspicious packages
- Apply emergency procedures (e.g., fire, bomb threats, riots)
Asset & Document Protection
- Prevent unauthorized removal of equipment/stores/documents
- Complete movement registers
- Inspect vehicles entering/leaving the premises
- Report missing/stolen items
Incident Reporting
- Record all incidents in occurrence books/registers
- Report irregularities and security breaches immediately
