Job Overview

Tower Group (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled and responsible Truck Crane Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and offloading of containers using the truck crane. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, regular vehicle and equipment maintenance, and performing additional tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

-Safely operate the truck crane for loading and offloading containers.

-Serve as a positive role model while operating the crane, maintaining professional conduct.

-Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of both the truck and crane to ensure they are in good working order.

-Keep the truck and crane clean at all times.

-Report any maintenance issues to the Branch Manager promptly.

-Clean spills and maintain cleanliness of tanks.

-Refuel the assigned vehicle when necessary.

-Follow all safety regulations and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

-Comply with all road laws when operating the vehicle on public roads.

-Ensure that your crane operator’s license is valid and unendorsed.

-Inspect the crane and its slings before use and ensure that they are load-tested regularly.

-Perform load tests on the crane as required.

-Assist with general housekeeping, depot maintenance, and yard duties when necessary.

Requirements

  • Valid and unendorsed crane operator’s license.
  • Proven experience as a truck crane operator.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures for crane operation.
  • Ability to perform regular vehicle and equipment maintenance checks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to assist with additional duties as needed, including general housekeeping and yard maintenance.
