Lenmed invites suitably qualified and professional candidates to apply for the Admissions Clerk position. The successful applicant will be responsible for handling patient admissions, medical aid liaison, documentation management, and ensuring accurate billing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Admissions & Liaison
- Handle all casualty (Trauma) and inpatient admissions at the main reception
- Liaise with patients and medical aids to secure authorisations and ensure payments
- Confirm all admission details and verify required documentation (Doctorโs notes, ID, Medical Aid Card)
Administrative Duties
- Capture ICD codes accurately on the patient system
- Check admission forms daily for correctness
- Print patient labels and admission forms for all wards daily
- Assist patients with forms for requesting hospital files and record payments received
Billing & Payments
- Bill medication for private Trauma patients
- Process patient discharges and bill accommodation daily
- Ensure deposits and general payments are collected, receipted, and posted accurately
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
- Previous experience in a medical administration environment (advantageous)
- Ability to stay calm and focused in emergencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer literacy
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts
