Overview
The Cashier will be responsible for processing customer purchases, handling cash and refunds, balancing tills, maintaining store standards, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused, reliable, and able to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Cashier Operations
โข Prepare and manage the daily float
โข Operate tills and scanners accurately and efficiently
โข Process all customer purchases through the POS system
โข Receive and process cash, card and electronic payments
โข Process refunds according to company procedures
โข Balance the till and ensure transaction accuracy
Customer Service
โข Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
โข Respond to customer enquiries courteously
โข Resolve customer complaints professionally
โข Promote products and services where appropriate
โข Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Store Standards
โข Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards
โข Ensure a clean and organised checkout area
โข Follow hygiene and safety requirements
โข Prevent wastage, shrinkage and damages
Compliance & Security
โข Follow security procedures and company policies
โข Operate equipment according to company standards
โข Ensure safe handling of cash and store assets
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
โข Minimum Grade 10
โข Grade 12 (Matric) will be advantageous
Additional Requirements
โข Ability to communicate effectively in English
โข Computer literacy will be advantageous
โข Customer service orientation
โข Ability to work in a retail environment
