Overview
Clover is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support quality control and testing processes within the Production department.
The successful candidate will assist in delivering precise, accurate and reliable laboratory results to internal stakeholders. This role ensures that products released to trade meet superior quality standards in line with company requirements and food safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Tertiary qualification in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Food Science will be advantageous
- Basic understanding of quality control
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Fluent in Business English
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Basic computer literacy

Key Responsibilities
Sampling and Testing
- Prepare equipment for repairs
- Clean equipment after repairs
- Move heavy equipment when required
Preparation of Reagents
- Daily preparation of micro media
- Assist with preparation of micro swabs
- Weekly preparation of Milkoscan pilots
- Weekly preparation of chemicals and reagents
- Daily preparation of lactose according to production requirements
Cleaning and Compliance
- Cleaning of laboratory glassware
- Ensure Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and 5S standards are maintained
- Weekly cleaning of water baths
Administration
- Inventory management including record keeping of COAs and MSDs
- Updating product reports as required
