Overview

The Department of Water and Sanitation is recruiting 19 General Workers to be based at Marico Dam under the Northern Operations Cluster.

The successful candidates will be responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of government water infrastructure and associated facilities, ensuring safe and efficient operations in compliance with safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

-ABET Certificate

-A higher qualification will be an added advantage

-Relevant experience in a similar environment will be advantageous

-Knowledge of handling gardening equipment and appliances

-Knowledge of lawn care processes

-Basic understanding of maintenance practices for government water infrastructure

-Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations

Key Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance activities including:
- Weed control
- Gardening
- Painting
- Maintenance of fire breaks
- Herbicide application
Conduct routine inspections on departmental infrastructure
Maintain canals, pipelines, dams, servitudes, terrain and buildings
Report faults, defects and safety hazards to supervisors
Load and off-load equipment
Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act requirements
Assist with additional general duties as required
