Overview
The City of Ekurhuleni is inviting applications for Driver Operator positions within the Water and Sanitation Department.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced heavy vehicle operators who are capable of operating water tankers, Hi-Up trucks, TLBs, and related machinery while supporting essential municipal water and sanitation services.
Key Responsibilities
– Operate heavy-duty vehicles, trucks, trailers, and machinery safely and efficiently.
– Transport equipment and materials to and from work sites.
– Maintain vacuum and chemical toilets in designated service areas.
– Record and report daily water usage and operational activities.
– Ensure machinery, vehicles, and equipment remain in good working condition.
– Identify operational problems and report unresolved issues to supervisors.
– Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment.
– Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures.
– Adhere to municipal policies, by-laws, SOPs, and OHS regulations.
– Assist in preventing wastage and protecting municipal resources.
Requirements & Skills
-Grade 10 qualification or equivalent.
-Valid Code 14 driverโs licence with PrDP.
-Relevant operator training certificates.
-Minimum of 2 yearsโ experience in a similar environment.
-Physically fit and capable of operating heavy machinery.
-Good communication and reporting skills.
-Ability to work under pressure and follow operational procedures.
-Knowledge of health and safety regulations within municipal operations.
-Ability to identify and resolve operational issues efficiently.
Remuneration & Benefits
-Salary package ranging from R273 288 to R374 820 per annum.
