Overview

The City of Ekurhuleni is inviting applications for the position of General Worker within the Sport, Recreation, Arts & Culture Department. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public facilities while supporting the daily operations of recreation centres and libraries.

Key Responsibilities

– Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of recreation centres and library facilities.

– Vacuum carpets, cupboards, and clean furniture and equipment.

– Remove refuse to maintain hygiene and comply with Occupational Health and Safety standards.

– Clean paved and tarmac surfaces.

– Maintain flowerbeds, water plants, prepare turfgrass areas, and rake grass clippings.

– Prepare facilities, furniture, and equipment for meetings, events, and functions.

– Remove and store furniture and equipment after events.

– Report damages, defects, and maintenance issues to the line manager.

– Comply with all workplace health, safety, and operational procedures.

Entry Requirements

  • Grade 10.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual duties.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Good attention to cleanliness and workplace safety.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliable and responsible.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Good housekeeping and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a public service environment.

Salary and Benefits

  • Annual salary ranging from R167,352 to R233,376.
