Overview

The Department of Agriculture is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Handyman at Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute in Middelburg, Eastern Cape.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates with maintenance, repair, fencing, and general farm infrastructure experience.

Successful candidates will assist with maintenance of buildings, irrigation systems, fencing, farm infrastructure, and related maintenance duties.

Minimum Requirements

-Grade 9 or NQF Level 1 qualification

-1–2 years relevant experience in farm and/or fence making work

-Fence making competency certificate will be advantageous

Required Skills & Knowledge

-Good communication skills

-Knowledge of maintenance and repair work

-Ability to work independently

-Good interpersonal skills

-Knowledge of farm infrastructure maintenance

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

• Maintenance of buildings and farm infrastructure
• Fence installation and repairs
• Plumbing, carpentry and painting duties
• Irrigation system maintenance
• General repair and maintenance duties

Farm Support Duties

• Assist with farm-related maintenance work
• Maintain equipment and infrastructure
• Cleaning of buildings, equipment and official vehicles
