1. Laundry Aid

Overview

The Department of Social Development is seeking a dedicated Laundry Aid to assist with laundry services at the Newlands Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre. The successful candidate will help maintain clean linen and clothing for service users while ensuring hygiene standards are maintained throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

-Collect, sort, count and record clean and soiled linen.

-Collect and process service users’ clothing.

-Wash and dry linen and clothing according to departmental procedures.

-Perform regular stocktaking of linen.

-Report damaged linen requiring repair.

-Maintain a clean and organised linen room.

-Ensure compliance with hygiene and health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • ABET Level 2 qualification.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of hygiene practices.
  • Understanding of Batho Pele Principles.
  • Ability to operate basic laundry equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy.

Overview

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development is recruiting three Administration Clerks to provide administrative and clerical support within various departmental offices. Successful candidates will support finance, supply chain, personnel administration and general office administration while ensuring efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will:

  • Provide general clerical and administrative support.
  • Capture and maintain departmental records and data.
  • Provide supply chain administration support.
  • Assist with personnel administration functions.
  • Support financial administration activities.
  • Maintain filing systems and office records.
  • Prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
