Overview
Transnet Port Terminals is currently recruiting Port / General Workers for operations at the Ngqura Container Terminal in the Eastern Cape.
This opportunity is ideal for hardworking individuals who are interested in working within South Africaโs port and logistics industry. Successful candidates will assist with cargo handling, cleaning operations, terminal support, and maintaining safe operational areas.
Terminal experience will be advantageous, but motivated candidates meeting the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Requirements
-Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
-Minimum 1 year experience (Terminal experience advantageous)
-Ability to work in physically demanding environments
-Attention to detail and cleanliness
Key Responsibilities
Cargo & Terminal Operations
-Assist with loading and off-loading cargo
-Open and close rail wagon twist-locks
-Hooking and unhooking cargo equipment
-Place and remove dunnage
-Tarping and untarping where required
Cleaning & Maintenance Duties
-Clean operational equipment and crane cabins
-Clean operational areas, workshops, rail trucks, offices, sheds, and ablution facilities
-Maintain safe and clean working environments
Monitoring & Documentation
- Conduct reefer monitoring operations
- Inspect container conditions
- Complete required documentation including accident reports
- Identify correct cargo handling equipment
