The Chris Hani District Municipality is inviting applications for 150 Security Guard opportunities across several local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.

These positions are offered on a six-month contract with a monthly stipend of R5,895.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 9
  • Security Guard qualification/certificate โ€“ Grade D, recognised by the relevant Security Industry Authority
  • Valid PSIRA Certificate
  • Police Clearance Certificate
  • Proof of medical fitness from a registered medical practitioner
  • Proof of residence from a Ward Councillor
  • At least 12โ€“18 months’ relevant previous Security, Police or Military experience

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for duties including:

  • Safeguarding municipal buildings, equipment and other assets.
  • Protecting municipal infrastructure, including pump stations, reservoirs, sewage pumps, dams and revenue collection centres.
  • Recording incoming and outgoing equipment/assets in the inventory control book.
  • Updating occurrence registers and recording incidents and routine activities.
  • Controlling the entry and exit of employees and visitors.
  • Searching vehicles on arrival and departure.
  • Directing members of the public to the relevant offices or queues.
  • Monitoring potential risks and threats to employees, councillors, delegations and municipal property.
  • Controlling the movement of people entering and leaving municipal buildings.
  • Applying municipal security protocols.
  • Safeguarding asset and inventory registers.
