Job Purpose

The successful candidate will assist with site management and monitoring of health, safety and environmental requirements.

This includes supporting implementation of Transnet Freight Rail RNC safety and health strategies, policies and applicable legislative requirements through site walkabouts and inspections.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

Applicants should have:

• Grade 12.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a safety environment.
• SHE Rep Certificate.
• Samtrac/Riskmaq 1 or MSRM.
• HIRA.
• Legal Liability.
• Incident Investigation.
• First Aid Level 1.
• Basic Fire Fighting.
• Computer literacy, with at least MS Office.
• Code 08 driver’s licence.

Knowledge & Skills

Candidates should have:

• Knowledge of the OHS Act and Regulations, including construction regulations.
• Knowledge of workplace hazard and risk identification.
• Incident investigation knowledge.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Communication skills.
• Teamwork abilities.
• Report-writing skills.
• Physical fitness.
• Good hearing and eyesight.
• Strong health and safety awareness.

Working Conditions

Candidates should be prepared to:

• Work within an operational area.
• Work during occupations or shut-outs outside normal working hours.
• Work in adverse weather conditions.
