Overview:
The Ministry of Natural Resources, through the Lesotho Lowlands Water Supply Scheme Unit (LLWSSU), is recruiting a qualified and experienced Public Relations Officer. The LLWSSU is responsible for the implementation of a large-scale water supply project aimed at the lowlands of Lesotho. This position is vital in managing public awareness, promoting the project, and ensuring positive engagement with affected communities and the broader public.


Position Purpose:
The Public Relations Officer will plan and implement publicity strategies to communicate project goals and activities. The role involves engaging communities, coordinating public events, creating promotional content, managing media relations, and supporting the project’s environmental and social impact activities, particularly around land access and compensation matters.


Key Responsibilities:

-Plan and implement effective publicity and communications strategies.

-Develop and disseminate written content, including articles, press releases, and social media posts.

-Design or manage the creation of visual communications and digital content.

-Act as a liaison with the media, public, and partner organisations.

-Organise and participate in community meetings, press conferences, exhibitions, and public events.

-Speak on behalf of the project in interviews and presentations.

-Provide regular updates and reports on the progress of public engagement campaigns.

-Analyse media coverage and online communications performance.

-Conduct or commission public opinion surveys and community feedback collection.

-Keep accurate records of campaigns, events, budgets, and timelines.

-Collaborate with the Environmental & Social Impact Manager to facilitate land access and related community matters.


Requirements and Skills:

-Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Business or Media Studies, Marketing, or Social Sciences.

-Minimum of 10 yearsโ€™ experience in a similar public relations or communications role.

-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

-Strong interpersonal and public speaking abilities.

-Experience with social media platforms and digital communication tools.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and graphic or video editing software.

-Strong organisational, planning, and project management skills.

-Ability to work independently and in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
