Overview:

Rand Water is seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Driver to join our Bulk Water Services Operations team in Vereeniging. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely driving and operating heavy vehicles to ensure timely refuse removal, assist in property maintenance, and support various transport needs. This role is critical to maintaining our facilities in a safe, clean, and presentable condition.

Responsibilities:

-Safely drive and operate heavy vehicles, including trucks, for weekly refuse removal within the plant and property.

-Transport passengers, employees, and materials as required, ensuring safety at all times.

-Assist with daily tasks related to property maintenance and refuse management.

-Oversee and assist the Gang Overseer with supervising employees and ensuring job tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

-Maintain and monitor vehicle logs, report incidents, and keep the truck in clean and good working order.

-Ensure that all tools and equipment are available, properly used, and securely stored when not in use.

-Attend official meetings and complete job-related documentation, including job cards, timesheets, and requisitions.

-Maintain accurate stock records, manage inventory, and ensure proper housekeeping of the Civil store.

-Adhere to safety regulations and procedures, reporting any health and safety concerns within the area of responsibility.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy vehicles.
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license with the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 driver’s test.
• Previous experience operating a Back-actor is advantageous.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.

Knowledge:

• Familiarity with safe working procedures and safety regulations.

Skills:

• Proficient in driving heavy vehicles.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid.
