Overview
The Directorate: Animal Health is recruiting a General Worker for its Skukuza facility in Mpumalanga. This government position supports quarantine operations, animal care, biosecurity and wildlife health management within a controlled environment.
The role is suitable for candidates with basic education who are comfortable working with wild and large animals and in outdoor environments.
Minimum Requirements
- ABET / Basic Education
- Previous experience working with wild or large animals (recommended)
- Willingness to work extended hours

Key Responsibilities
Animal Care & Biosecurity
- Care for animals and birds in quarantine
- Supply correct food to quarantined animals
- Report illness immediately
- Record daily health parameters
- Perform basic animal husbandry duties
- Maintain biosecurity standards
Facility & Grounds Maintenance
-Clean workstations and dispose of infectious material
-Clean predator cages, stables and bomas
-Remove bedding and wash animal holding areas
-Maintain quarantine grounds and perimeter fencing
-Mow lawns and remove vegetation from fences
-Inspect electric fencing daily
Waste Management & Operations
- Operate incinerator and record waste disposal
- Remove waste and foreign objects from premises
- Assist with clinical work and necropsies
- Assist with carcass incineration
- Assist with game capture operations
- Carry equipment and tools as required
