Overview

The Department of Defence (DoD) invites suitably motivated applicants to apply for Cleaner posts across multiple formations. Successful candidates will ensure clean, safe and hygienic offices, facilities and accommodation areas, and will support general housekeeping in line with OHS requirements and service standards. Minimum ABET is required and no prior experience is needed.


Key Responsibilities

-Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping of offices, kitchens, ablutions, passages, conference rooms and shared facilities.

Dust, sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, wash windows/walls, polish furniture and floors; remove refuse daily.

-Maintain and safeguard cleaning materials and equipment; keep usage registers where required.

-Operate cleaning machines (e.g., vacuum, polishers) and use basic hand tools safely.

Report defects and hazards; apply Occupational Health & Safety measures at all times.

-Support ad-hoc cleaning/housekeeping tasks as instructed.


Requirements & Skills

Minimum qualification: ABET (Adult Basic Education & Training).

Experience: Not required.

  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Basic English verbal communication; basic numeracy & literacy.
    • Knowledge of health & safety and safe chemical/equipment handling.
    • Ability to operate cleaning machinery; physically able to perform manual tasks.
    • Able to work in a team or independently; punctual, disciplined, neat and customer-service minded.
    • Willingness to work shifts where required and follow instructions diligently.
