About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies and The Local Choice Corporate Stores are seeking Frontshop Assistants across multiple stores nationwide. The successful candidates will support in-store merchandising, uphold retail standards, ensure product availability, and assist with efficient customer service.
These roles are ideal for entry-level candidates who are passionate about retail, organised, and customer-focused.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 0โ6 months retail experience
Advantageous:
- 1 year retail experience
- FMCG or pharmaceutical retail background
- Knowledge of merchandising standards or planograms
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales and product availability
- Ensure delivered or storeroom stock is packed into the correct areas immediately
- Apply FIFO (First-In-First-Out) and monitor expiry dates
- Maintain neat, clean, fully merchandised shelves at all times
- Keep storeroom organised and tidy
- Report low stock, damages, expiries, and out-of-stock items
- Assist with cycle counts, stocktaking, and back-shopping
- Ensure correct pricing and accurate labels on shelves
- Build and maintain promotional and merchandising displays
- Assist with loading/off-loading goods when required
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service
- Follow up on customer queries and out-of-stock requests
- Uphold uniform, name badge, appearance, and hygiene standards
- Assist with training new team members when needed
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in line with store standards
- Adhere to all health, safety, and operational procedures

Advantageous Competencies:
- Knowledge of FMCG/Pharmacy retail
- Merchandising and category knowledge
- Ability to read planograms
- Additional South African language
Special Conditions of Employment
- Driverโs licence or reliable transport
- South African citizen or valid work permit
- Clear credit and criminal record
- Must be willing to work retail hours, weekends, and public holidays
