Overview

The Department of Agriculture is seeking a skilled Tractor Driver/Operator to support agricultural production and quarantine services at Buffelspoort, North West. The successful candidate will operate tractors and specialised farming equipment while assisting with crop production, equipment maintenance and general farming operations.

R170 226 per annum (Level 03)

Responsibilities

-Operate tractors and specialised farming machinery safely.

-Assist with planting and harvesting crops.

-Maintain orchards, vineyards and nurseries.

-Perform routine maintenance on tractors and farm equipment.

-Operate spray pumps, mowers, brush cutters and cultivators.

-Carry out pest control and quarantine support duties.

-Clean and store equipment after use.

-Complete administrative records relating to machinery use.

-Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

Requirements

-Grade 10 (NQF Level 3).

-Minimum 5 years’ experience operating tractors and specialised agricultural equipment.

-Valid driver’s licence (Code EC preferred).

-Good communication skills.

-Knowledge of agricultural machinery and farming operations.

-Ability to work independently and in a team.

-Physically fit.
